I posted this request 2 years ago and got no takers whatsoever, so I'm
reposting it with slightly better information and offering a measly US
$5 reward for the first person who provides me with the information
that allows me to find this song.

Can anyone tell me the title and/or artist of the song that ends the
most excellent movie "Better Than Chocolate"? (I'm talking about the
very last song that fades out as the credits finish rolling.) It's not
on the soundtrack CD. I closely examined each of the songs listed in
the credits, but couldn't match its lyrics to any of the titles shown,
nor did I recognize the artist's voice or musical style. (I strongly
suspect she's from Canada, since many (most?) of the BTC artists are.)
I've even perused several search engines for some of the lyrics,
without success. Here's an approximation of those lyrics (slightly
better than the first pass I made two years ago):

===== LYRICS START =====

I could take a trip,
Get away from this place,
But I'm stuck like glue to you.
I wish I could fly
And finish this lie,
But I won't 'cuz I know that it may cause hurt to you.

Flying in a plane
On a Friday afternoon
Would be a thrill.
Or making history
In the world today by sculpting some words
Or laze and let it slip away.

And if I took a trip to the north horizon,
The weather would change.
The freedom isn't a wet(?) vacation,
It's livin' today.

Only I don't know
If I could deal the good chips
With my hands and lift my mind.
The dream don't ever die.
It can run and hide and then
Manifest and grow deeper inside.

Alone, I wonder why
Should I save my soul
In a future dream of eternity.
Well, life is to spend,
And despite the trends,
I'd rather be a fighter by livin' free.

And if I took a trip to the north horizon,
The weather would change.
The freedom isn't a wet(?) vacation,
It's livin' today.

[13-BAR INTERLUDE]
La la la la la la...

After all the pain
And the tears subside,
I find that there's still love inside.
And I want you back... [FADE OUT]

===== LYRICS END =====

Not only would any ideas be appreciated, but as I said, I'll send a
five-dollar bill to the first person who gives me the info I need to
track down this song. Thank you.

called him - however, he is at a wedding this evening. he will get back to
me later on and then I'll tell you the title to that song.

Sorry, but the song I'm after isn't on the soundtrack CD for "Better
Than Chocolate". Furthermore, I've carefully examined the entire body
of music in the film and compared it against each of the song credits
listed at the end of the film. The only songs that I couldn't identify
were the following, with my subsequent research noted:

* "In My Mind", Trippy (wrong style, based on "Let's Have Sex" from the
soundtrack)
* "Wonderfool" and "EEG Flatline & Systematic", Moondogg (instrumental
piano/electronica artist; unlikely)
* "Shameless", Ani DiFranco (lyrics don't match)
* "Natural Forces Synaesthesia", Bill Leeb (electronica; All-Music
Guide sample rules it out)
* "Soda Pop", Lindsey Davis

The last song is the most promising one, but I've had a hard time
finding this Lindsey Davis. I just contacted Anna Lumiere of Mimosa, a
Vancouver-based band that Lumiere and a "Lindsey Davis" co-founded but
that Davis left. It seems likely that Mimosa's Lindsey (who now goes by
"Lily Frost" and is in Toronto) is the same person credited in the BTC
soundtrack. Her website, www.lilyfrost.com, has a music video, "Who Am
I?", which is a bit different stylistically from the song I'm after,
but her vocal range and tone are close enough to *suggest* she and
"Soda Pop" are the artist and title I'm looking for.

However, it's still possible that the song I'm after is not credited on
the soundtrack. Also, I am still waiting to hear from Davis/Frost via
email. If someone can provide me solid evidence that she and "Soda Pop"
are what I'm looking for before she contacts me, I'll still pay the $5,
even if my earlier inquiry gets results. And if this is a dead end,
too, I'll still be looking. Either way, I'll post whatever I discover
here.

Thanks to a tip from Anna Lumiere of the Vancouver band Mimosa, I was
able to verify that the closing song of "Better Than Chocolate" is
indeed "Soda Pop" by Lindsey Davis (AKA Lily Frost), who wrote and
performed it in her earlier band, Colorifics, on their album "Living
City". (All-Music Guide has a song sample of "Soda Pop" that confirms
this.) She hadn't seen my $5 offer, but I was only too happy to buy the
latest Mimosa CD, "Voyage", as a gesture of thanks (especially after
listening to some samples on their site, mimosamusic.com). Thanks to
everyone who took a moment to think about this and ask around.

I appreciate your attempt. I was actually very surprised to close this
2-year-old query so quickly this time around. I'd expected weeks or
even months more hunting.
