Does anyone know what is the music played in the movie Pearl Harbor
trailer?

This is not the theme of Pearl Harbor, but I guess this music comes
from another movie or something?

Thanks

Same composer--different movie....
Movie: The Thin Red Line
Song: Journey to the Line
Composer: Hans Zimmer

The tune drags like a bitch, but if you get your hands on it......listen for
time 3:40ish to 5:05 (that's about the sample area for the trailer).

Thanks Atraiel, you were right of course. The track 8 (Pearl Harbor)
sounds like the soundtrack of Crimson Tide, again same composer. I
just bought the soundtrack of Thin Red Line... great!

No problem, Thomas.

I'm wondering what Alan Silvestri tune is played during The Polar Express
trailer (assuming it's not the main theme.... it sounds very familiar and I
haven't heard any clips from the soundtrack, itself). I've waited 13 months
for this damn movie. I'm going to see it tomorrow night....finally. I know
Silvestri won't let me down!

Atraiel, about the Pearl Harbor trailer, I'm astonished! I knew I
could find plenty of content an answers on internet, but I don't
understand how you managed to find the right soundtrack, the right
track, the right time! Alan Silvestri is another great composer. I
will listen the trailer. Do you know why music from another movie is
often used in the movie trailers? For the drag or something else?

You asked the right question. Usually, I don't know what the people in here
are talking about so I just spew my typical bullshit until people start
talking my language.

I heard they do that because the original score isn't complete at the time
the trailer was made. That was my understanding of it anyway. I could be
wrong.

Silvestri is my favorite composer. He won me over with Dutch and Overboard.
I just saw Polar Express last night. I think I built it up too much in the
last 13 months. The music was good.....but very Edward Scissorhands. I
love Elfman, but I'd hate to think Silvestri was influenced by the Edward
score. Someone tell me they don't hear Edward in PE.......convince me I'm
wrong here (this is the part where people are going to tell me Edward was
actually stolen from somewhere else....a movie I've probably never seen).

On a "movie" note though...... the best movie out right now is Saw. That
movie blew me away - worth the dvd buy.

Such an ODD looking film. I don't find the "much talked about" animated
style comfortable to watch at all.

Was the music from the trailer in the film? I did like the trailer music.
Though not a fan of the scissorhand film or music.

Ok, first off..... WTF? You don't like Edward or Elfman's music in it? Are
you serious? How can you NOT like that music? Wow, something's obviously
wrong with you lol

The Polar Express animation is a little awkward looking in places, but it's
still cool. I can get into those animations just fine. Some of them are
very detailed. I'm impressed by the technology and the manpower behind
them. It's amazing how far we've come.

The trailer music for P.E. sounds like it could be the main score, but I'd
have to hear it again (and the site isn't working for me right now). The
score is good, not overly original, but still nice. And like all of
Silvestri's films, the music is very well placed. He's always been great in
that department. He can set and deliver a "mood" like no other.

You are not wrong. However, in some cases the trailer music is selected to
be immediately appealing to the audience. If you consider the trailer for
Forbidden Planet, the trailer music sounds like the religious epics of its
time .. such as Quo Vadis. However, the actual score, which was completed,
was a brilliant all-electronic score. No doubt executives wanted something
more familiar and dramatic.

Yeah, I thought that might be another reason.... they want something
familiar that the audience knows (typical attention grabber).

Hello both,

I haven't heard the Thin Red Line soundtrack, so I cannot tell if the music
corresponds with the music of the trailer, but I have heard the music in the
trailer and the basic music motive, the tune that repeats itself can be
found as the basic music motive in the complete score of the film The Crow.

Movie: The Crow
Track: It has 15 tracks and the theme repeats itself in most of them.
Composer: Graeme Revell.

The score was released in 1994, before The Thin Red Line, so I guess IMHO
that Zimmer "was inspired" by Revell.

I was looking for that music too, and I found out that the score for the
Crow was magnificent.
The best resource to look for trailer music is the soundtrack.net site. For
Pearl Harbour is says this (listing also the Thin Red Line):

Ok, I just listened to some of The Crow samples.... I hear Pearl Harbor A
LITTLE in "On Hallowed Ground". IMHO...Revell's
"Pain and Retribution" from The Crow "was inspired" by Horner's Glory (1990)
and Young's Flowers in the Attic (1990).

Well... as long as the music is original, there is no problem ;)

As usual, there is no cue from the movie itself in the trailer...
It seems there's an original composition by Silvestri, though.

There are several trailers for PH, the most famous use two original
cues composed by Steve Jablonsky : "Goliath" and "Trailblazing".
