Dear Everyone:

The melody of the popular song "One day when we were young" (from the
1938 movie "The Great Waltz" about Johann Strauss II) was taken from
the famous duet "Wer uns getraut?" (Who tied the knot?) of the opera
"Der Zigeunerbaron" (The Gypsy Baron).

Was the lyrics of the song also translated from that of "Wer uns
getraut"? What is the original German lyrics of the latter like? Could
you also provide the original lyrics?

Do you have the lyrics to Robert Stolz's 'Weiner nicht'? It's from an
old film -with Jan Kiepura-, and the first rendition I heard of it,
was in a Wunderlich song-recital album.

I think it is "Weine nicht." I do not have the lyrics, but I will try
to get them. While searching, I found a new release of a 7 CD set of
Wunderlich, which includes that song. I bought it, from a site in
Australia! Lyrics are not included with the recordings of Stolz songs
that I have, perhaps because they are still under copyright.

Thanks, I've always liked that song, very much.

The rendition in your set is probably the same one I have.

It's a seldom played, but beautiful and moving selection.
